Screenwriter Alexandra Sokoloff analyzes
"Act I" of Emma Thompson's Sense and Sensibility. There is so much more in the first 45 minutes of the movie than meets the eye. It is a fascinating look at this wonderful film. Thanks to Susan Kaye at Austen Authors for finding this.
Thanks for this! I always like to know what screenwriters wanted to show.
ReplyDeleteI read this and found it very interesting to have a breakdown of these scenes. I always thought Alan Rickman staid as Col. Brandon, but now understand it better.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, am I just an idiot, or did you forget the link for Alexandra's blog? It is probably just me, but I have clicked away futilely and finally googled her name to find her blog. Good article however!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny, I accidentally posted this at Austen Authors, and when I realized my mistake, I moved it over to my blog. Of course, the link didn't work. Thanks for letting me know. If you didn't check in, I was going to e-mail you b/c I was pretty sure you would be interested in this. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary, I did really enjoy the article. As you know, I loooooove Emma Thompson's S&S. Hope you are staying calm this busy week!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Jenny
Just got around to reading Sokoloff's analysis of S & S and found it so interesting the way the scenes & characters are explained. Plan on watching the movie again. Still can't say that Hugh Grant & Emma Thompson work me?
