What is Mrs. Bennet's first name? According to someone at Yahoo Answers, it is Blossom, which the respondent says Mr. Bennet used quite a bit. Who knew? LOL
P.S. Someone on meryton.com just informed me that Mr. Bennet calls Mrs. Bennet "Blossom" in the 2005 movie. I'll have to rewatch it now.
I have no idea! I've actually never given this much thought. Blossom, you say? Well, that's a first for me.;) I hope someone confirms this, I'm interested now.

That is so funny! Yes, Mr. Bennet in the 2005 movie calls his wife Blossom. But it is a term of endearment, I suppose. Did any of these people have first names? Mr. & Mrs. Bennet, Lady Lucas, Mrs. Gardiner, etc?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was really funny, too. Blossom as a name in the early 19th Cent! I think Mr. Gardiner's name was Edward, but that may be another of those film or TV adaptations that I now have in my head.

ReplyDeleteI truly thought it was Fanny. Just like Mr. Gardiner is Edward? Madeline is Mrs. Gardiner? I don't know did I miss something?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Jane as Austen seems to name eldest children after their mother/father. Alternatively, in the 1995 version she is called Fanny by her brother Edward.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that "blossom" is an endearment. In the movie with Keira Knightley, if you have the captions on you can read what they say. When Mr. Bennet calls his wife "blossom" (right after Elizabeth sees sick Jane at Mr. Blingleys house) it is not capitalized. I do not know about the other movies made of this story or the book though.
